Education is the neurotransmitter that passes on experience and knowledge from generation to generation. The method of education, the "stimuli" in our neurotransmission analogy, varies for different age groups in order to maximize the effectiveness of education. Therefore, GreatBay_SCIE invented and designed diverse means of education to engage everyone in society in our project this year.

## Online course
For different age groups, GreatBay_SCIE is leading them to the way of learning synthetic Biology. As known to all, the future of STEM development lies in the kids. Environmentally friendly awareness and academic literacy should be cultivated from an early age. For children, On October 3(rd), we held an open online course for primary and secondary school students to promote the concept of synthetic biology and open access education.
online course 1 Note:Kids enjoyed the humorous style of PowerPoint.

During our online class, we introduced the basic ideas and definitions of things including proteins, DNA and how genes determine the phenotype of organisms.
Online course 2 (video) Note: Kids answered Mr.Leon's questions actively.
Also, we provided a brief introduction of the mechanism of the central dogma and protein synthesis. Afterwards, we had a brief quiz to test the results of the class.

## Exhibition
Moreover, to expand the audience to high school students, our team held a variety of activities to introduce synthetic biology to every student. GreatBay_SCIE opened up an exhibition on the campus. Our group designed 5 posters, concerning the technology, application, and ethic issues of synthetic biology, and also the exhibition of the background and summary of our project - FabRevivo.
Exhibition 2 Note: delicately decorated exhibition.
![delicately decorated exhibition.](https://static.igem.wiki/teams/4275/wiki/education/exhibition-2.jpg)
During the exhibition, members of GreatBay_SCIE gathered many students on campus, and taught them some basic knowledge of synthetic biology.
Exhibition 3 (video) Many students participated in the exhibition.
We introduced them to many advanced biotechnologies, such as PCR, DNA sequencing, and Golden Gate. Moreover, applications based on the development timeline of synthetic biology are introduced, through which we attracted not only biology students but also students major in other fields. Furthermore, we designed a game based on the poster on the exhibition to test about the effectiveness of the exhibition. The game is based on cards and was all multiple choice problems, the participants could randomly selected a card and answered the question. If they got the right answer, a mask or the stickers would be given to the participants as rewards. Many people got our merchandise in the end, which proved our exhibition effective. Last but not least, posters used to discuss about the ethic issues were widespread to the audience. The people who got the posters discussed the context written on posters with our members, and some questions asked were effectively answered.
Exhibition 1 Note: Passionate reflection from the audience

The exhibition lasted for three days, and the result demonstrates it is interactive and effective in spreading synthetic biology and arousing environmentally friendly awareness.
## iGEM club
For science students in SCIE, we opened an iGEM club to give further and professional details about synthetic biology. In lessons, we talked about some interesting stories along the development of synbio and academic knowledge such as central dogma and experiment design.
iGEM Club 1 Note:65 students joined the iGEM club.
![65 students joined the iGEM club.](https://static.igem.wiki/teams/4275/wiki/education/igem-club-1.jpg)
Our aim focuses more on what kinds of spirits and value synthetic biologists need instead of the knowledge itself simply, which received a lot compliment: ‘ the leader of ECA is making the lesson meaningful and entertaining though sharing those stories. Feminism, determination, and another way of thinking is what I get from those lessons.’ We also adjust the difficulty of courses based on reflection given, and provide recourses such as books in different fields and visit to the lab to encourage them finding their interest and dream occupations. Hopefully, those members in our club will realize their interest and utilze these academic literacy into their STEM work that they learnt in iGEM club.
iGEM Club 2 Note: we're encouraged by positive feedbacks and keep improving based on the suggestions given.

We’re glad to see those positive influences that we’ve brought to those future iGEMers, and a bright upcoming future that our education have done.
iGEM ppt Note: we modify the content of each ECA based on the feedback we got. Those ppt are sent to every member for revision purposes.

## Official accounts
To sustainably influence the students, GreatBay_SCIE also continuously published some articles on our SCIE-iGEM official account, including the topic of textile waste, introduction of fast fashion, development of synthetic biology and brief explanation of our project.
official account Note: Articles with both English and Chinese versions.

###### Articles with both English and Chinese versions.
Through those articles, we not only promotes a more environmentally friendly lifestyle but also encourages more people to know about how synthetic biology get involved in our life positively. The end of competition will not be the end of this official accounts — more articles will be published since there is no end of education. We expect there will be more iGEMers joining us and making an effort to share their opinions and knowledge about synbio.
## Entertainment: card games
Apart from traditional education such as lessons and speech, GreatBay_SCIE provides the whole society with a new and entertaining mean of education -- card games: SynBio Craft. Due to its funny nature, we expect our education to have a higher range of audience and transmit faster. Four types of cards are used in this game: Functional card, material card, random accident card and result card.
Card game 2 Note: Attractive appearance of the cards
![Attractive appearance of the cards](https://static.igem.wiki/teams/4275/wiki/education/card-game-2.jpg)
The goal is to synthesis a sequence with specific basepair length within shortest time, with random allocation of three types of cards respectively. Material cards gives sequences with different length; Functional cards have experimental skills to combine those materials; random accident card could reduce or increase the time taken and possibility of success.
## Synbio Craft
Detailed and comprehensible explanations were printed on the cards so everyone could understand them and take part in the game, which reaches our goal: to educate, introduce synthetic biology in an amusing, simple and easily comprehensible way.
Card game 1 Note: Students play card games joyfully
With our joint effort, more iGEMers will come onto the stage of synthetic biology, and use their talents to achieve a greener world.
